Performance reviews often break down in operations, not intent. Teams start a cycle, then lose track of who still needs to submit, which reviews are blocked, and where managers should follow up first.
FeedbackPulse gives HR leads and managers a structured review workflow with clear ownership: employees complete self-reviews, managers complete manager reviews, and both sides move through the same cycle timeline.
What You Can Run Today
The performance review module supports two distinct review tracks in every review:
- employee self-review questions
- manager review questions
Each question can be configured as text or rating, with ordered question sets and rating scale options. That gives teams a practical way to combine narrative feedback and scored evaluation without forcing one format for every question.
During submission, each person only sees the question set targeted to their role. Draft answers can be saved, then submitted when complete.
Keep Review Cycles Structured Without Heavy Process
Review cycles are managed with explicit period start, period end, due date, frequency, and status. Admins can create a new active cycle and close the previous active cycle in the same flow.
From there, admins can preview review generation before assigning anything. The preview shows:
- employees who will receive reviews
- employees already covered in the cycle
- employees not eligible yet (for example, no manager assigned)
Generation then creates reviews only for eligible active employees with managers and skips duplicates for that cycle.
Visibility and Completion Logic That Stays Clear
Every review has explicit submission flags for both sides and computed statuses:
- not started
- in progress
- overdue
- completed
When both self and manager submissions are done, the finalized review view is unlocked with side-by-side answers. If one side has not submitted yet, the workflow stays in-progress until both are complete.
This keeps expectations clear for managers and employees and avoids the usual confusion about whether a review is actually finished.
Admin Controls and Reporting
Performance reviews are not just a form. Admin and manager views include operational controls to keep cycles moving:
- pending review queues with due dates
- single and bulk reminder nudges
- cycle-based filtering on review lists
- summary reporting by completion status and department
Reporting supports status and department filters, and manager report views are scoped to their direct-report structure instead of exposing the full org.
How It Works
- Admin sets up a review cycle with period dates, due date, and frequency.
- Admin previews generation and confirms which employees are eligible.
- FeedbackPulse generates reviews and snapshots the active question set into each review.
- Employees complete self-review questions; managers complete manager questions.
- Teams save drafts as needed, submit responses, and track progress by status.
- Admins or managers send reminders when reviews are still pending.
- Once both sides submit, finalized responses become available in one printable view.
Best Fit for Growing Teams
This workflow is a strong fit if your team needs review cycles that are more structured than spreadsheets, but lighter than enterprise performance suites.
It works especially well when you need role-specific questions, clear completion tracking, and manager-level visibility without adding a separate process tool.
