FeedbackPulse Templates

Templates are reusable question sets that power every Survey in FeedbackPulse, including Engagement Surveys, Pulse Surveys, onboarding, exit interview, eNPS, and leadership surveys. Performance Review cycles do not use Survey templates. They use Review Competencies configured directly on the cycle instead. See Performance Reviews for how those questions are set up.

Once created, a company-wide template is available to all Admins in your Organization.

All company-scoped custom templates are automatically shared across your Organization. Any Admin in your Organization can use, duplicate, or edit templates created by other Admins.

Managers can also create their own templates if your plan includes manager-created surveys. A Manager’s templates are team-scoped: the Manager who created a template can edit, duplicate, and delete it, but other Managers cannot.

Sharing scenarioSupported?
Share with Admins in my OrganizationYes, automatic. All Admins see all company-scoped templates
Share with Managers (non-Admin)Managers can create their own team-scoped templates (if enabled on your plan) and can edit or delete templates they created. They cannot edit Admin-created (company-scoped) templates
Share across different OrganizationsNot directly. You would need to recreate the template in the other Organization
FeatureHow templates are used
Engagement SurveysOne template per survey, with Likert scale and open-text questions mapped to engagement dimensions
Pulse SurveysOne template per pulse, typically 3-5 quick questions
Performance ReviewsNot template-based. Each Review Cycle is configured with its own Review Competency questions
  1. Go to Settings > Templates
  2. Click Create Template
  3. Choose a type (Pulse, Engagement, eNPS, Onboarding, Exit Interview, Leadership, or Custom)
  4. Add your questions. You can mix question types (Likert, Yes/No, Open Text, eNPS)
  5. Click Save

If you’re an Admin, your template is now available to all Admins when they create a new Survey. If you’re a Manager, your template stays scoped to your team, and only you can edit it.

  1. Go to Settings > Templates
  2. Find the template you want to copy
  3. Click the three-dot menu (⋯) and select Duplicate
  4. Rename and customize the copy as needed
  5. Click Save

DeletableNoOnly if it has never been used by any Survey
  • A template can be edited at any time, regardless of whether it is already used by a draft, active, or completed Survey. Editing a template does not change Surveys that were already sent, since each Survey keeps its own snapshot of the questions from when it was launched.
  • A custom template can only be deleted if it has never been used by any Survey. Once a Survey has used a template, even a completed one, the template can no longer be deleted. Duplicate it and make changes to the copy instead.
  • Each Survey uses exactly one template.
  • There is no limit to the number of custom templates you can create.

Q: Is there a limit on questions in a survey template? A: There is no separate saved-template question count limit. When you import questions from a CSV file, FeedbackPulse processes up to 100 question rows per upload. If your CSV has more than 100 question rows, the extra rows are skipped and the import summary shows how many were not imported.

If you need to import more than 100 questions, split the questions into smaller CSV files and use the append import option for the later uploads.

Each imported question must include a question and type. Supported survey question types are Likert, Yes / No, Open Text, and eNPS.

Q: Can I export a template to use in another Organization? A: Not currently. Templates are scoped to a single Organization. To use the same questions in another Organization, you would need to recreate the template there.

Q: What happens if someone edits a template I’m using in a draft survey? A: A draft Survey pulls the current version of its template’s questions when you launch it. If someone edits the template before you launch, your Survey uses the updated questions. Once a Survey is launched, its questions are snapshotted and no longer change even if the template is edited later.

Q: Can Managers create templates? A: Yes, if your plan includes manager-created surveys. Managers create team-scoped templates that only they can edit or delete. Admins create company-scoped templates available to every Admin. Managers cannot edit or delete Admin-created templates.
