Slack Integration: Send Employee Surveys in Slack
The FeedbackPulse Slack integration is a connection between your Slack workspace and FeedbackPulse that sends employee survey invitations and reminders as Slack direct messages (DMs). An Admin connects your Slack workspace once in Settings > Integrations. After that, each survey can send by Email + Slack. Email always still goes to everyone, so nobody misses the survey.
What the Slack survey integration adds

Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- You need the Admin role in FeedbackPulse.
- You need permission to add apps to your Slack workspace. Some workspaces need approval from a Slack owner or admin.
- Each employee should use the same work email address in Slack and in FeedbackPulse. FeedbackPulse uses this email to find the right person in Slack.
Connect Slack
Section titled “Connect Slack”- Go to Settings > Integrations.
- Find the Slack workspace notifications card.
- Select Connect Slack.
- Slack opens. Review what FeedbackPulse asks for and select Allow.
- Slack sends you back to FeedbackPulse.
The card now shows Connected and your Slack workspace name.
FeedbackPulse asks Slack for four permissions: send messages, open direct messages, read basic user details and look up users by email.
Turn on Slack for new surveys
Section titled “Turn on Slack for new surveys”The Survey notifications switch on the Slack card sets the default for new surveys: “Send invitations, reminders, and closeout summaries in Slack.”
- On: new surveys start with Email + Slack.
- Off: new surveys start with email only. You can still turn Slack on for one survey.
Send a survey in Slack
Section titled “Send a survey in Slack”Any survey you send with Personal invitations can go out in Slack, including pulse surveys and repeating surveys. When you create a survey with Personal invitations, the Distribution step shows a Delivery box. The Review step shows the same box before you launch.

To change it for one survey, select Change in the Delivery box and turn Slack messages on or off. If Slack isn’t connected yet, the box offers Connect Slack. It opens in a new tab, and your survey draft stays open.
Shared-link surveys don’t send invitations or reminders, so they don’t use Slack.
What employees get in Slack
Section titled “What employees get in Slack”Each matched employee gets a direct message from the FeedbackPulse app for:
- the survey invitation
- each survey reminder
The message shows the survey name and description, whether responses are anonymous or confidential, about how long the survey takes, the close date and the employee’s own survey link. If you wrote custom reminder text, the Slack reminder uses it too.
Employees answer in their browser from the link. They don’t need to log in to FeedbackPulse.
Check who got the survey in Slack
Section titled “Check who got the survey in Slack”Open the survey and scroll to Recipients.
- Slack message delivery shows how many Slack messages were Sent, Skipped and Failed.
- The Slack message column shows the status of each person’s invitation (Invite) and Reminder.

Add teammates from Slack
Section titled “Add teammates from Slack”When Slack is connected, the card also shows Choose teammates. It opens Team Management, where you can pick people from your Slack workspace and add them to FeedbackPulse. Each person you add uses a seat.
Disconnect Slack
Section titled “Disconnect Slack”- Go to Settings > Integrations.
- Select Disconnect Slack and confirm.
Future Slack messages stop. Email continues. Disconnecting also turns off Survey notifications, so turn it back on after you reconnect.
If someone removes the FeedbackPulse app in Slack, the card shows Revoked. Select Connect Slack to connect again.
Frequently asked questions
Section titled “Frequently asked questions”Q: Does Slack replace survey emails? A: No. Email always still sends. Slack adds a direct message for employees FeedbackPulse can find in Slack.
Q: Why didn’t some employees get a Slack message? A: Usually the email on their Slack profile is different from the one in FeedbackPulse. Their row shows Skipped, and they still get the email.
Q: Can I send pulse surveys in Slack? A: Yes. Pulse surveys, eNPS and any other survey sent with Personal invitations can use Email + Slack, including surveys that repeat.
Q: Can I turn Slack off for one survey? A: Yes. On the Distribution or Review step, select Change in the Delivery box and turn off Slack messages.
Q: Can employees answer inside Slack? A: No. The Slack message links to the survey, which opens in the browser.
Q: Who can connect Slack? A: A FeedbackPulse Admin. Your Slack workspace may also need a Slack owner or admin to approve the app.
