Recognition Notification Settings
Every admin receives an email each time someone submits recognition, because the Notify all admins setting is on by default. An admin can change this on the Recognition settings page, either narrowing the list to specific admins or switching the emails off for everyone.
Who receives recognition emails by default
Section titled “Who receives recognition emails by default”By default, all admins do. This includes admins who are added later, so a growing admin team means more people on the notification list without anyone changing a setting.
This is the most common reason directors and senior staff report receiving more email than they expected. They were given admin access so they could log in and read reports, and admin access carries the recognition notifications with it.
How to change who is notified
Section titled “How to change who is notified”You need admin access, and the Recognition module must be turned on for your organization.
- Click Settings, then click Recognition in the settings menu
- Find the Notification Recipients section
- Turn off the Notify all admins toggle
- In Choose which admins to notify, select only the admins who should receive the emails
The page confirms your choice in plain language underneath, for example “No one will be notified by email.”
What each choice does
Section titled “What each choice does”| Setting | Who receives recognition emails |
|---|---|
| Notify all admins on | Every admin, including any admin added in future |
| Notify all admins off, some admins selected | Only the admins you selected |
| Notify all admins off, no admins selected | Nobody. No recognition notification emails are sent to admins |
Leaving the picker empty is a supported way to switch these emails off entirely. Recognition itself keeps working, and admins can still review recognition activity by logging in.
This setting applies to the whole organization
Section titled “This setting applies to the whole organization”Recognition notifications are configured once for the organization, not per person. There is no personal notification preference for an individual admin, and the emails do not carry an unsubscribe link.
So if one director wants to stop receiving them while another wants to keep them, turn off Notify all admins and select only the admins who should stay on the list.
Notifying the employee who was recognized
Section titled “Notifying the employee who was recognized”This is a separate setting on the same page, under Recipient Notifications. The Email Recipients option controls whether an employee receives an email when a colleague recognizes them, and it is on by default.
Changing who is notified among your admins has no effect on it. If employees have stopped receiving recognition emails, check Email Recipients rather than the admin list.
Changes save automatically
Section titled “Changes save automatically”There is no separate confirmation step. Each change saves on its own a moment after you make it, and the page shows “Saving…” and then “Saved.” while that happens. Wait for “Saved.” before closing the page.
Other settings on this page
